Nine years ago, 'North Bristol Noise' started in Lockleaze when Ebenezer Church and few other churches got together to see how they could pull resources together to organise a weekend of serving the community and showing God's love in practical ways. It was an exciting time to see the whole church come together. The Noise continued to grow in size, number of volunteers and influence. It's been wonderful to see the number of doors that God has opened for the church and seeing other sustainable projects be established.
In 2008, linking with the national initiative of HOPE08, the Noise project felt it was time to double the size of everything, from number of volunteers and geographical size. The Community Church had just moved to Southmead and was great to have another core church involved in organisation of the Noise. There was a oneness in vision and purpose and in May 2008, it was an amazing weekend with so many stories of God working in and through over 350 volunteers from 35 different churches.
In 2009, The Noise continued to expand to work with another core church - Highgrove Church based in Sea Mills. Highgrove had already had experience over a number of years of running 'The Bizz' which was well established in Sea Mills and huge respect in the local community. The Noise built on this reputation, as we see Christians serving in the urban estates across North Bristol, partnering with local churches with a local community identity.
Much effort is put into meeting with community leaders and residents in months leading up to The Noise weekend, so we discover what are the projects and people groups that they would like to see us working with. It's been great to have good relationships with Bristol City Council, the police, schools and many other statuary and voluntary groups across North Bristol. Every year, we look to see where God is leading the project to develop and grow, and yet still maintaining local identity for each of the individual communities.
In 2010, we are not expanding the geographical area but we are looking to have 600 volunteers involved!! Get signing up now and spread the word! We are also excited to announce the new charity - 'Bristol Noise' - which started in February 2010 and there are initial plans coming into place for long development of 'The Noise' across the Bristol Region.
